Treatment of Knee Orthoscopy

Arthroscopy is an endoscopic surgery of the joint, performed by Orthopaedic Surgeon to inspect, diagnose and treat r problems inside a joint. Arthroscopy word originated from two Greek words- arthro (joint) and skopein (to look) the term means “to look within the joint”.

After suitable anesthesia r a 4mm diameter telescope like instrument called Arthroscope is introduced into the knee joint. A camera attached to the end of this Arthroscope transmits the images which are displaced on a video monitor. Dr. Abhijit Ranaware uses very small skin cut to insert Arthroscope inside knee joint and then inspect the injured knee in detail. These images seen on video monitor will guide to introduce specifically design fine surgical instruments through other stab incisions (key hole) to repair and replace injured tissues. Arthroscopy involves small incisions and hardly any soft tissue cutting rather than larger incision needed for the conventional open surgery.
